  1. Is the form below enough or do you need me to type it out in the comments. I’d love to win this biography! I adored Mary Wickes in Little Women (1994). One of my favorite films.

  2. LOVE Mary Wickes like so many others so it’s not easy to choose a favorite. I’ll choose her “Now, Voyager” appearance for the great advise she offers and I love seeing her in “White Christmas,” which has been a favorite of mins since I was a kid. ALSO, her 1956 appearance on an “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” episode titled “The Baby Sitter” is thrilling because she appears with another of my all-time favorite character actresses, Thelma Ritter. AND, she absolutely hilarious in a 1971 episode of “Columbo” – a favorite show of mine.

Sorry – can’t pick just one.

  3. Sign me up for the contest. I’d say my favorite Mary Wickes performance is The Man Who Came To Dinner, although the first one I ever saw was her turn in an episode of MASH about forty years ago. I also thought she was great in a pair of Doris Day movies, On Moonlight Bay and By the Light of the Silvery Moon. Always funny.

  4. My favorite Mary Wickes role has to be every time she appeared on the screen. She and other character actors were what made the films of the golden age special. But I can pick at least one, Now Voyager.

  5. My favorite Mary Wickes performance is as Miss Esther Cathcart on TV’s DENNIS THE MENACE, in particular the 1962 episode titled “You Go Your Way.” Just watch her every little move, expression, and glance; it really is a study in how to appear natural while acting. Just a priceless performance, and it says so much about her much-practiced craft. Not to mention she’s so funny in this episode, which pairs her (against) another pro, Alice Pearce.
